Benefit High Beam VS Two Super Cheap Dupes!

Hello there my glow worms!
I'm sure you've all heard of Benefit's inimitable highlight High Beam, well in this post i'm going to compare that much loved highlighter to its cut price dupes, from PoundLand's makeup line Chit Chat and Technic.

As you can see i've got two full sizes of the Chit Chat and the Technic highlighters, but just a sample of the Benefit, but i assure you i've used it so much that i can definitely give a clear review of it :)
I'll start with the main event, Benefit!

My sample size has a doe foot applicator but the full size has a brush, so i can't fully comment on the application, but personally i'd love the full size to have a doe foot as well! I think it makes it a dream to apply, but hey-ho, on with the show!
This is such a beautiful, warm pinky-cream shimmery liquid, with a gold undertone, applies like a dream and blends like one too!
It really awakens your face and lasts all day, but for £18.50 for 15ml you would expect it to! On the upside, it would last you forever and a day as this sample has lasted me a good 6 months and it's not even all gone yet!
This has no scent whatsoever, none of the highlights do.
It can be purchased from Boots, online or instore.

This product comes with a misshapen, really hard to work with brush, which won't matter if you're just applying it to a seperate brush and then to your face, or just dotting it on your face and blending with your fingers, but if you're wanting to use the brush in the bottle for application then you're fighting a losing battle!
This is a much more cool toned cream with just a hint of pink and a more silvery undertone to it, which will wash out darker skin tones and be far too noticeable, but if you have pale skin this would still be a pretty highlight on you.
This lasts really well, i'd say a good 6 hours before re-application is needed.
The packaging is a bit plain and boring, but for £1 for 12ml of product, if you've never used a highlight before, and you have pale skin, i'd definitely recommend this for a first timer!
You can't buy this online, only instore at Poundland.

This brush is 10x better than the Chit Chat, way easier to apply, but still not the best, i'd still use my fingers or a different brush.
This is more warm toned than the Chit Chat, but still cooler than Benefit, and still has a slightly more silver undertone to it.
This lasts all day on me, gives a really nice sheen to my face and makes me look wide awake (which i never normally am!).
This is the closest to the Benefit out of the two though, now that i have this there's no way i would pay for a full size of the Benefit, there's just not enough difference for me to justify the extra £16.05 i would spend on it!
This is only £2.45 for 12ml of product on Amazon, and free shipping! You can also buy this in Boyes, Savers and Bodycare i believe, so if you have any of those stores in your town it's definitely worth popping in and scouring for this beauty :)

In synopsis, i would opt for the Technic Highlights everytime, the packaging is just as snazzy, the product is near identical (apart from the slightly differing undertones) and you get almost as much product (12ml is still going to last you forever just like the 15ml!), but if you're quite pale or just wanting to try out a highlighter on a very tight budget, the Chit Chat is a good dupe also, just not as good as Technic :)
Even if i had the money to spare, i'm not sure i would spend £18.50 on a Benefit highlight! Maybe i'm just a tight arse haha.

Will you be buying either of these dupes when your Benefit runs out?
Were you considering buying High Beam but now you've changed your mind?

Let me know below! I love hearing from all you gorgeous gals :)

  4. thanks for the review, the only thing i worry about is the silver undertones, i've never tried any of these products, but i like more golden products for my face as i end up looking like a corpse otherwise haha.
i'll definitely give the technic one a try as its not so silver so hopefully it'll work a little better than a really silvery one.
    hope you're well!

    1. I've tried it but i didn't buy it until after i did this post so i didn't include it :)
It's more golden toned so i'd say it's more similar to the Benefit
