Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Real VS Fake!

Hi there my lovelies!
I thought i would do a comparison post today, between the fake Naked 2 palette and the real one!
I received the fake Naked 2 palette as a giveaway prize, the blogger holding the giveaway didn't know it was fake but after i did a bit of digging on the internet i realised it was, not her fault obviously that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes when you buy things off Ebay or Amazon, but luckily my brother bought me the real Naked 2 palette for my birthday anyway so i thought i'd do this post in case anyone's wondering how similar the dupe is to the real thing.
Obviously i know some people don't like fakes because you can't guarantee what ingredients are in there but i have sensitive eyes and mine have been fine so that isn't an issue for me, and also counterfeits can fund some dodgy stuff which is why i won't be linking where to buy this fake in this post, so just be aware of that.
First off, the fake Naked 2 doesn't come with a Lip Junkie lipgloss, and also it comes in a brown cardboard box with Naked 2 written on the front, and not the fancy clear packaging like the real one, so that's the first thing to look out for.

The real one is the top one, as you can see there isn't much difference!
The font is slightly different on the Urban Decay logo but other than that i think they're identical!

The top one is the fake one here and this is where you see the real difference, for a start the writing is upside down! and also it's very messy, with glue all over it and it gapes at the top making it look very flimsy, whereas the real one is as sturdy as can be!

Everything on the back looks exactly the same, apart from the real one has a little sticker on it that says ''A145'', i'm not sure what that means but maybe it's a batch number?

As you can see, at face value some of the shadows look exactly the same, it's really quite a good dupe!

But as you can see, it's pretty shoddy in workmanship, the mirror fell off as soon as i opened it, which is awful even if it is a dupe!

The top is the fake one, which if you take a close look you won't be surprised to hear, as i'm pretty sure it's Half Baked and not Half Bakeo...
Once again, Busted and not Busteo, dear me!

Now for swatches! (AKA, the fun bit)
The fake Foxy is much more chalky and less pigmented, but the Half Baked is pretty much the same, except the fake has a touch more gold in it.

Bootycall is incredibly similar, almost identical! But Chopper is nowhere near, the fake one is much less pigmented and more orange rather than bronze.

Tease in the real palette is basically completely matte, whereas the fake one is quite shimmery and chalky, and Snakebite is quite similar, except the real one is more deep and dense shimmer.

Suspect is a good dupe, but the real one is much more pigmented, and the real Pistol is a lot more grey than the fake one.

Verve is nothing like the real one, the real one is much more gold, whereas the fake one is silvery. Also YDK is way less pigmented in the fake palette, not a good couple of colours!

Busted is really lovely in both palettes, it's a very good dupe and i can't pick which one i like better! And Blackout is a real disappointment as you can see, it's so badly pigmented in the fake palette it's not even worth using.

Obviously all the colours in the real Naked 2 palette are much creamier and more pigmented than the fake one, but that goes without saying really, Urban Decay eyeshadows are the bees knees!

The real brush is the bottom one, and to be honest, the fake brush is nicer! It's much softer and i find that it blends a lot better.

Price wise, the fake palette is about £22 on Ebay, but the real one is normally £36.00 on Debenhams (although it's currently £32.40 on Debenhams online so get on there while you can!).

Overall, i would say that for the extra £10-£15, go for the real one, it'll last much longer because the colours are more pigmented, and you don't have to worry about being allergic to anything in it either.
Maybe if the dupe was a touch cheaper, around the £15 mark, i'd recommend that one, it's still a nice palette, it's just not comparable really to the real thing, as i said before, Urban Decay shadows are especially wonderful!

Do you have any nice dupes/fakes you'd like to tell me about?
Let me know below!!
Thanks for reading :) Hope you're having a great weekend!

  2. I take it the D key didn't work on whatever they used to type up the shade names! haha 22 quid for a fake palette is shocking, even if they do look almost identical.

  3. This was a very interesting post :) I am certainly against counterfeiting because it is known to help fund other illegal activity.

    1. Yeah definitely, that's one of the reasons I didn't link any sellers who are selling the fake one, I'd hate to influence anyone to get involved in anything dodgy, it's helpful to know the dangers out there with these fakes though, hate to see people get burnt! Xxx

  4. This might sound a bit bitchy but how could she have not realised it was a fake?! Wouldn't the spelling mistake have been a good sign? Also the fact that it didn't have the gloss. Personally I would never buy fake cosmetics, if I want something I'd rather save up than spend that much on a fake. Plus I agree the with the poster above, a lot of fake stuff funds some really dodgy stuff! x

    1. The spelling mistakes are inside of the palette and if someone's holding giveaway they don't open things what they have in giveaway so she had not any chance to see the mistakes. It's not her fault. Dupes and fakes are getting better and harder to recognize from real ones.

    2. Yeah it was all boxed up so she wasn't to know, don't blame her at all! I'd probably have made the same mistake!

    3. Yeah that's why, as I said above, I didn't link any sellers, don't want any dodgy people getting custom from me haha

  5. Wow, that's a lot of money for a fake. Even if the ingredients aren't hurting your eyes, they might still be toxic and horrible. Definitely worth paying the extra money to be safe and not fund whatever the counterfeiting of this item is going towards. Thanks for the comparison. X

    1. Yeah, word does get around, hopefully this post will stop a few people getting burned! If someone wants to take a risk on the fake one then that's fine, but I'd hate to see people getting ripped off! Xxx

  14. Thanks for this post! I had NO IDEA that people actually sold fake make-up. I know that sounds naive but you just thought there would be no point, it's more the quality of the make-up rather than the brand that makes it so successful!

I have the Naked 2 (real one haha!) and i love love love it! Hit pan on Chopper and Busted!

    Much love, xoxo

    1. You're welcome!
Yes neither did I until i noticed something off with the palette when i received it, then I googled it and opened up a whole world of fakes!!
The fakes aren't even that cheap so I don't get the point of them, but i suppose they deceive enough people for it to be worthwhile!
I also love my (REAL) palette haha the colours are so pigmented and beautiful!

  15. I got done by eBay too, before I started blogging! I bought both of the palettes on eBay and was so gutted. I have since bought the real ones, and binned the fake as I was too scared i'd be using something dodgy on my eyes. I had to giggle at busteo haha, it sounds better than busted anyway :D xx
